Deslie is the Artistic Director of the theatre company and publishing house, Family Playhouse. She is passionate about the value of theatre and acting in the development of children, and through Family Playhouse promotes live theatre as the best training ground for the young actor. She is a lifelong student of Shakespeare. She also has a lifelong interest in the Authorship Question, and is presently writing a fictional work around the the secret life of Francis Bacon.

As well as her career in theatre, Deslie has worked as a journalist and singer. Her book ACTING MAGIC: The Complete Guide to the Art of Acting was recently published. Born in Sydney, Australia. she qualified as a teacher of speech and drama at Trinity College of
Music in London. She now lives and works in Honolulu, Hawaii with her husband, Jim, and their two children.
